Inside my world
I am Faith Elaine Miles, an artist from Jacksonville, Florida. I love to connect with other creatives, most commonly, my colleagues and peers. For me, art is very social and is a tool for communication. My influences are classic cartoons, anime, and independent web comics. I work best independently and with full creative control. My goal is to inspire, or collaborate by bringing two or more independent concepts together in ways others may have never considered before. I create original character designs, comics, illustrations, and creative writing pieces. I work in raster imaging programs on the iPad and with traditional media such as acrylic or oil paint and markers. Traditional materials are best used for my character concepts because they allow me to connect with my childhood self who valued classic pen to paper most for it’s accessibility. My goal is to challenge the standards all artists hold themselves to, whether they are self-imposed or by the industry, to continue to inspire artists to create at all costs. I want to combat hierarchical thinking in society as well as the professional world. My work isn’t meant to be a movement or something inherently poetic for existing, but a deliberate yet subtle defiance against taking drawing too seriously. My work is unique because it is honest and a reflection of a life only lived by me. My life experiences are a ball of yarn that all are reflected in my art. My work is a diary and I offer that intimacy to whomever would like to indulge or collaborate.
